Antioch is nestled between the San
Joaquin River and thousands of acres of agricultural preserve.
Because of this ideal location, Antioch has a rich history
of farming and marine traditions. These traditions have
recently merged with the comforts of modern living which
is especially evident in "new" Antioch, just
south of Bella Rose. A 16-screen multi-plex theater and
Prewett Family Water Park have long been area favorites
but now shopping and dining are even more convenient.
In the midst of corn fields and olive tree groves, new
retail centers are popping up such as Target, Mervyn's
and Barnes & Noble as well as many restaurants including
Mimi’s Café, Chili’s and Panera Bakery.
Antioch residents also enjoy fishing and boating on the
river, a bike ride along miles of scenic trails or picking
up fresh fruit and vegetables from the nearby Brentwood
farms. Downtown Antioch hosts many cultural activities
including the Rivertown Jamboree, lighted boat Christmas
Parade and Fourth of July fireworks. Now there are more
choices and more convenience all with that same small-town
charm that has always made Antioch a great place to live. |
